The organization will give students the opportunity to play live shows on campus, while working to link Smith bands to other venues in the Pioneer Valley. In addition, we hope to work in conjunction with similar organizations from the other five-colleges.
We hope to foster musical collaboration and creativity, and to provide students with a new live-music experience.
As of now, Smith administration has refused to acknowledge the needs of student musicians, while evading a discussion surrounding current options for practice spaces.
The petition will prompt the administration to provide us with a physical place on campus to start our project, and to recognize us as a legitimate organization.

The administration continues to remain silent regarding our request for dedicated practice space. I am currently preparing a formal proposal to present to the relevant offices next week.

The momentum behind this request for dedicated musical workspace has grown significantly. This level of engagement confirms that the student body recognizes the necessity of fostering creative outlets on our campus.

Finding a place to actually play drums without getting kicked out is impossible right now. We really need this.
Practise spaces and other musical opportunities are not only beneficial to a school's reputation, but also beneficial to students' productivity and mental health. In fact, I am I high school junior looking at colleges right now, and even though I'm not a music major, I don't even consider schools without musical opportunities and practise spaces.
It's about time! Let the music be heard
