Allow Faye Udan to Interview for Sharp Mary Birch’s New to NICU / New Graduate Residency Program
This is a petition asking Sharp Healthcare to give Faye Udan the opportunity to interview for Sharp Mary Birch’s New to NICU / New Grad Residency Program.
Faye has been an integral part of Sharp Mary Birch’s NICU team since 2002. In this time she has worked as a hearing screen technician, a medical assistant, and one of our most coveted clerks on the unit. Our unit could not run as smoothly or efficiently without her ability to orchestrate it. Faye works flawlessly with all disciplines and touches every single person in a way that preaches Sharp’s culture of caring. Faye IS the Sharp Experience.
In 2006, Faye graduated nursing school and was hired into the New Graduate Residency Program at SMB. She graduated after taking our NICU’s final exam, however, she did not pass her boards. Growing her family took precedence for a time, but she never gave up on her dream of getting her license. She persevered and in 2019 she passed her nursing boards and officially became a registered nurse! In hopes of continuing her almost 20 years of working with Sharp, she waited for our NICU to open its New to NICU / New Grad Resideny program, while simultaneously working towards her Bachelors in Nursing. And this year, the position finally opened! But as Faye prepared to apply, she was told she is not eligible for this position. With a nursing degree, a registered nursing license, and limited nursing experience, one would think she would be the perfect candidate for a NICU program whose intention is to turn nurses with zero experience into NICU nurse powerhouses. But, qualifications for the program have become more rigid this time around and, on paper, Faye does not qualify and HR cannot push her application through.
At Sharp Healthcare, our vision is to set the standard for healthcare, and the backbone of that is hiring nurses who encompass that vision. After almost 20 years with Sharp, Faye has left a mark on our NICU that proves she would be one of the greatest assets to our nursing team. Every registered nurse signature on this petition is one that would gladly train Faye and help her fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse in our NICU, if given the opportunity. Every signature on this petition are ones who truly believe that not every situation is black and white, and some exceptions need to be made for these unusual circumstances.
As the healthcare professionals that work with Faye on a daily basis, we are asking Sharp Healthcare to please help Faye further her career and take the next step, by allowing her to interview for our Residency Program. We love you Faye!

I strongly urge you to allow Faye to apply for the NICU new grad residency. I believe she would be an amazing NICU RN and would be honored to precept her if given the opportunity!
Faye deserves an equal chance. She’s put in the same hard work needed to become a Registered Nurse. Faye is a true medical professional! She’s shown her loyalty to our company with her years devoted to Sharp. Faye is the essence of what Sharp calls “the Sharp Experience”.
I can't imagine a better candidate for the NICU New Grad Residency program. Intelligence, compassion, team player, dedication, perseverance, and the ability to stay calm in the middle of unit chaos! That is the Faye Udan I know.
This is someone we know who is committed to our unit. Faye has been at Sharp for many years and is vested in our unit. We hire so many new grads who only stay for a year or two and then leave. Please reconsider Faye as a candidate… we need to retain staff as well as recruit them. Thank u!!
Faye would be an asset to Sharp Mary Birch and the NICU team. I have been employed in the NICU for twenty years and believe people like Faye make the NICU who we are. Please reconsider her for our residency program.
Worked with Faye for years & always found dignity, professionalism, willingness to assist & all around good will!
Everyone deserves a chance and Faye has been very dedicated to Sharp.

Faye is probably the most deserving, well-qualified candidate Sharp could possibly hope to have for the Mary Birch NICU New Grad Program. Not allowing her to interview would be a tremendous loss to the organization — both as an opportunity to further the professional goals of a loyal employee, but to coworkers, patients, and parents of our NICU!
