I NEED YOUR HELP! Please sign this position to support Nola The Nurse, being included in the curriculum for the I Promise School.
Nola The Nurse was created by Dr. Schar Lawson, NP, a nationally recognized and award winning nurse in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Nola The Nurse book series inspires and encourages children not only to fall in love with reading but to see important images that they can identify with while receiving information on nursing healthcare, and helping others. Schar indicated on social media that she would love to have her Nola The Nurse series be read by the children at the I Promise School. Well there is nothing that we as nurses can’t do once we put our “Super Nurse Cape” on, so I’ve put mine own and I’m asking you to please join me in signing this petition. The goal is to obtain at least 5,000 signatures. We can do it!

This will be a great addition to any elementary school, but especially to schools in poorer communities! Communities where students would otherwise not have the exposure to people of color achieving absolutely amazing things in healthcare!!!!
As an educator, Nola The Nurse is what all children need! Mr. James, please make Nola The Nurse a part of your reading curriculum. Your children need to see these images and read about something that they can achieve, Nursing or a profession in the healthcare industry. Job well done Dr. Lawson
“NOLA the Nurse” is a great program developed by my friend and colleague Scharmaine Lawson Baker which educates students about Nursing especially Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (Nurse Practitioners, Certified Nurse Midwives, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, Clinical Nurse Specialists) in a culturally diverse way.
NOLA the Nurse is amazing! It introduces children to thecwonderful world or nurses more specifically to advanced practice nursing!! APRNs are the future of our healthcare system. I've personally invested in purchasing & have donated the books to classes & have also read to local classes.
I LOVE! LOVE! LOVE Nola The Nurse book series. A beautiful book series for children. Mr. Lebron James & designated school board, please include Nola The Nurse in your reading curriculum. The young minds that you are inspiring need this series to help them toward being great leaders. Thank you!

This is a huge need to increase the presence of minorities in nursing. This is more imperative for the espoosure to reach young boys. By permitting NOLA The Nurse into I Promise offers the opportunity for young boys and girls to be exposed to the career if nursing. This is allows them to consider another career choice for their future.
