In the recent November Bonner County levy, the Lake Pend Oreille School District (LPOSD) violated the Idaho law requiring the ballot language to include the specific amount taxpayers will be required to pay. Omitted was the fact that the levy increases property taxes by $214 per every $100,000 of your property’s assessed value. This language is critical to allow taxpayers to make informed decisions. If this had been on the ballot, would you have changed your vote?

If you voted Yes in November and would have voted No if the required language had been on the ballot....Please sign this petition.

If you didn't vote in November and would have made sure to vote No if the required language had been on the ballot.....Please sign this petition.

This issue affects property owners and renters alike. LPOSD violated state law and they are now fighting to keep this permanent levy instead of voiding it and running it again legally. They claim the illegally omitted language would not have changed the outcome and the levy would have passed regardless. We at Idaho Tax Watch disagree. Please help us show LPOSD that following the law matters! Sign and/or share this petition today.

The momentum gathering here is honestly spinning my head because I really thought this would just be me shouting into the wind at the school district office. People are actually paying attention to the law now and it feels like the tide is finally turning against these shady ballot tactics.

The behavior of LPOSD who has admitted they were in violation of the law but continue to refuse to do the right thing is a terrible example to our children and a slap in the face of property tax payers.

The school district should be required to follow the law. If they're so certain that the levy has the support of the voters, they shouldn't be afraid of re-running the levy vote with all of the required information provided to the voters.

I would never had voted in favor of this Levy had it not omitted the increase of $214 per $100,000 of property assessed value!

These school levies shouldn't be (just) the burden of property owners. A county-wide sales tax should be applied instead. That being said, the levy should be null and void.

I voted against the levy and now this kind of re-affirms why I did. I have lived here for 49 years, paid property taxes every one of them, and kind if am tired of the robbery that seems to keep going on.

There is no way I would vote for a permanent levy. Thery were not honest in presentation...I heard it would raise taxes like 50cents a month noone ever said over $200 per 100,000...that's pure insanity..I'm on a fixed income..I'm not crazy and it's NOT for the children...VOTE NO...

My vote would be no if the correct wording and amount was revealed and included in the original language. The board is not serving the community in allowing this to continue with taxpayer funds.
