Last fall the New York State legislature gave counties the ability to legalize the sales of certain consumer fireworks, like ground based fountains and sparklers. Now the ErieCounty Legislature is currently debating a proposal to allow residents the right to sell and use sparklers, fountains and other novelties around the Fourth of July. This common sense local law will let our residents enjoy the freedoms that Americans in 46 other states enjoy in celebrating our Nation's independence.

Get on the ball Erie County and legalize fireworks! Why is it that our counties here in NYS always take FOREVER to approve anything yet this state always makes sure they rob us blind in taxes for EVERYTHING and that certainly doesn't take long to approve. Maybe you need to think about the true meaning of July 4th (especially).

why not legalize the fireworks that way erie county can reap the rewards on the sales tax.
