Legalise Segways as a form of Transport in Public Places

Segways are a form of transportation currently illegal in public places in most states of Australia, with the exception of Segway Tours. The Segway Personal Transporter has been described as the “worlds first self balancing human transporter”, that has a maximum speed of 20km/h, can travel on most terrains including Dirt, Gravel, Grass and Snow. They are emission free during operation and they are almost completely silent making them an eco-friendly green machine. By Legalising Segways we will promote eco friendly transport and boost the tourism industry.
The current law regarding Segway’s states that at present, anyone riding a Segway in a public place could be fined $115 for driving an unregistered vehicle. However, the current law also states that Segway’s can’t be registered, meaning you can't use them in public places without being fined.
