Petition To Get Bike Riders On Our Roads Registered Or To Have Some Form Of Identification - Australia
If cars have to be registered to ride on our roads then why don't bikes?
There have been many close calls, accidents and even fatalities from cars and bikes sharing our roads.
Bikes have no identification so if there is any accident or encounter, there is no way to identify the bike or rider, only the car.
This is a petition to get bikes to have some form of registration ie bike number plates or easily identifiable ID to protect both road users. In the case of an accident, how would we identify the cyclist? Not many carry identification when out.
Bikes are starting to frequent our roads more often and it is about time something was done about this.
There needs to be more education for drivers and riders about road rules, in particular road rules for bike riders. This is a very grey area with many road users having their own interpretations on road rules. There needs to be a safe way for cyclists and cars to share the road and some identification if any accident was to occur.

Need plates on bikes for sure. Sick of them taking up the whole lane and then acting like victims when things get close. Make them pay insurance like the rest of us.

About time. Too many of these lycra clowns think the road rules dont apply to them. Seen them run red lights and cut cars off constantly with no way to report them.
