Current legislation in Australia deems the Segway PT as a non compliant vehicle... mainly due to their being no suitable category for it to fit into. This was also the view in every state in the US and across Europe many which have since been adapted and modified in various ways to introduce this unique , green and safe YES safe form of personal transport into the urban environment. And not to replace walking but the help reduce motor vehicles on the road. We are pushing for a positive change here in Australia to allow these to be introduced either in its own category or fit into an existing one. For both personal transport and a whole new tourism industry... which meets with the innovative, sustainable and environmentally friendly views of most councils and people..with over 350 authorised guided tours across the Globe there are at least 25 new businesses here in Australia waiting to start....:)
