The council just confirmed they are finally moving forward with the full renovation of our playground. Seeing our children get the safe space they deserve makes every bit of this effort worthwhile. I will keep you posted as the construction crews arrive so we can watch this transformation together.

Western Flatts Park Leeds has a small children's play area. Currently, this play area is not fit for purpose. The play area was installed over 20 years ago and has deteriorated, been streamlined, and has been outgrown by the needs of the local community. The age and disrepair of some of the equipment also raise safety concerns for the children.
Please sign this petition to back a formal request urging the council to allocate funding to this local play area so that all of our children can enjoy a well-maintained and suitable playground.

Seeing one hundred people sign this list really hits home because I know how many of our local families rely on that park. It means the world to know I am not the only person who feels like our children deserve better than what is currently there.

Love Western flats park but the play area really lets it down. The equipment is old and depressing - no fun for the kids. We regularly travel to other parts of Leeds to use the play equipment because both Western flats and wortley rec have inadequate provision.
Western Flatts is a lovely park and I have been familiar with it from my childhood through to present day, 70 years! I agree it is time for the children's playground to be updated and brought up to modern day safety standards for our grandchildren to enjoy, as I did!
Would definitely agree with replacing old rusty equipment. Also would be a bonus to reconsider location if possible. Bandstand area is damp, lots of trees and quite a dark, lonely location. A better lit location nearer to the road/ houses at the top would perhaps feel/ be safer.
As a parent and childminder I love to be able to use the local park as it is right on my doorstep, however in its current state it is not suitable and to dangerous f ou r children under the age of 5year old.
I love taking my little girl on this park as it’s such a lovely place to walk around however the playground is very run down and needs updating! There are screws missing from parts of the framework and it is unsafe for kids to go on!

Western flatts playground needs a complete renovation. It is currently barely useable and slippery in wet weather due to algae and moss on the ground. I have used the playground for over 50 years and this is the worst it has ever been.
