Decision Makers: Mike Bradley

We, the undersigned, are asking the city of Sarnia to renovate the Carr St. neighbourhood playground and make it safe, welcoming, and worth using again.

This area of Sarnia is a place where people take real pride in their yards and houses, so it is disappointing to see the playground in such poor shape. Some of the equipment is made of wood and appears old and worn. The paint is chipped along the structure, and the sand around the play area is filled with burrs. For families trying to enjoy the neighbourhood, this is not the kind of park that invites children to play.

Parents and residents want a playground that is more than an eyesore. A park should be stimulating, enjoyable, and suitable for kids in the community. Right now, many families are choosing not to use it, and some are looking at private fundraising just to get new equipment in place. That should not be necessary when this is part of our city’s own infrastructure.

We also understand that residents have reached out to the city of Sarnia more than once and have not been given any clear plan for corrective action. That leaves the neighbourhood feeling overlooked. The city should listen to the people who live here and take action before the playground falls further behind.

We ask for a full update to the Carr St. playground, including safer equipment, better play value for children, and cleaner, more usable ground cover. Our community deserves a park that reflects the care people already show for the neighbourhood around it.

This park is so sad looking, and there are so many kids that live in the neighborhood that would benefit from a decent play area.
