To the Gold Coast City Council,

We, the residents of Woody Views Way in Robina, wish to express our significant concerns regarding the safety and accessibility of our street during events at CBUS Stadium, which is situated just 600 meters away.

Our concerns include:

  • Unauthorised Parking: Presently, our street is designated as a 2-minute parking area on event days, leading to unauthorised parking by non-residents and causing severe disruptions. The efforts of the Gold Coast City Council Parking Inspector team in issuing fines, while appreciated, are insufficient in curbing the continuous illegal parking that persists on every stadium event day.
  • Emergency Access: Our foremost concern revolves around the abundance of vehicles parked illegally, which restricts access for emergency service vehicles. In some instances, the available access space narrows down to as little as 3 meters, endangering the safety of our residents and properties. A fire brigade, ambulance or tow truck would had severe challenges in accessing any residents properties should an emergency occur.
  • Reckless Driving: The reckless driving of CBUS Stadium attendees through our street while searching for parking poses a significant risk to our community.
  • Traffic Congestion: The congestion that plagues our street on event days often reduces it to barely a single lane in certain sections, leading to traffic jams and numerous near-miss accidents.
  • Driveway Blockage: The illegal parking also obstructs our driveways, making it difficult for us to access our own properties.

In light of these concerns, we kindly request that the Gold Coast City Council takes immediate and substantive action to address our safety issues. We urge you to implement measures that restrict access to Woody Views Way on all CBUS Stadium event days. This should involve the inclusion of our street in the overall traffic management plans for such events and the deployment of a traffic controller at the street entry point to ensure access exclusively for Woody Views Way residents.

We are eager to see a resolution to this matter and are open to further discussions if necessary.

Yours sincerely,

The residents of Woody Views Way Robina, Queensland 4226.

I have been documenting the near misses and blocked driveways on our street to present a clear picture to the council staff. Hearing your own stories of being trapped in your homes during stadium events confirms that this is a dangerous situation we can no longer ignore.

Seeing this level of support for our neighborhood shows me that I am not alone in fearing for our safety when the stadium gates open. Reading your stories about the congestion on our street has validated every stressful evening I have spent guarding my driveway. The momentum we have built together proves that our small street deserves to be safe for all our families.

Sick of cars blocking the street , sick of permits for living in my area kids can’t play in street and I missed my ferry because I couldn’t get my trailer out of the street

Last event was for the Monster Jam, together with the number of cars parked wherever they saw enough room to squeeze into, one 4WD parked right on top of the fire hydrant. The drivers when advised they shouldn't park here as they will get a fine, they said it is cheaper to park there and get a fine, so it doesn't bother them.

Please don’t make this about revenue for Council. Residents are being fined for parking at their own property. Emergency vehicles would not fit in our street on event days. Residents passes would make the most sense in this situation. Please let common sense prevail and make necessary changes to parking in Woody View Way. Thank you for considering this petition.

Strongly agree with this petition!!! Causes us as residents massive inconveniences with the amount of traffic that clearly don’t worry about signage, and as a resident if we don’t take notice of an event day or are away for the weekend we end up getting fined for having our vehicles on the street….

Many cars are parked down both sided of the street and there would be no room for an ambulance or fire brigade to fit down the street if required.

With all of the illegal parking and volume of traffic in woody Views during game, as a resident we cannot get our cars out of the property I own and often get abuse from people when I ask them to move their vehicle.

I concur with the petition to have woody views way a no parking zone during the use of the stadium. It creates safety hazards.

I agree with the content of the petition, but believe it should not exclude approved visitors to our property who could perhaps be granted a pass of some sort.
