La Porte County is suffering from a pandemic. Heroin and methamphetamine abuse are sweeping the county, and the death count is only rising. Locally, we have very little access to treatment for those suffering from addiction.
It has come to our attention that the County Home is being considered for demolition. It is our hope that you may reconsider. This home, or the property it sits on, would make an excellent location for an inpatient rehabilitation treatment center.

Please consider adding a facility to our county! The few facilities in the surrounding area are full of their own county's patients. We need one for our own citizens! Someone wants to change but can't get into a facility, then gets discouraged and goes right back to drugs... Don't let that happen here!!!
We need it here in Michigan City we have the highest heroin overdose rate at 15 in the country which is at 2.5 for the rest of the country thats a massive problem that needs attention NOW !!!
LaPorte County is making good improvement on treatment centers. However , most heroin addicts and many others cannot recover with just outpatient treatment. An inpatient facility is needed greatly!
I agree. I am 22mo sober and I've done everything around here and basically in northwest indiana. I had to do a long term intensive inpatient treatment program to get me to where I am now. congratulations on your progress.
ALL lives matter. Some may say "They're addicts. They're worthless. They deserve what they get." I say, "They're sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and friends. They deserve our help!" Please, our community members lives depend on it!
Much needed.. Users are sick and not by choice! They need treatment/rehabilitation/help.. NOT JAIL!!

My family could sure make use of this, sad to say. I just took a family member to detox yesterday in South Bend and they are kicking them loose tomorrow and I know they aren't ready to take outside life yet, they need in house help.
