They actually agreed to redo the whole road and the full plan is finally getting funded by the town budget. I am sitting here staring at the confirmation email in complete shock because I really thought the drainage issues would keep them stalling for years. Now we just have to …
Summer Street (Route 35) in Historic Kennebunk Landing is in disrepair, with crumbling sidewalks, poor drainage and lighting, and no bike lanes for the many cyclists who use it nor secure footing for walking or running. We the undersigned are asking Kennebunk Town officials to
include the reconstruction of Summer Street in the next budget
cycle.
I honestly never thought we would pick up this much traction so fast and it is pretty wild to see so many people who actually care about the state of our sidewalks. My phone has been buzzing constantly and now I really feel like the town office is going to have to stop ignoring us.

I am a disabled adult who needs to walk daily, but must do it elsewhere such as the beach because the sidewalks from Bibber's towards the village are in deplorable condition. Thank you

I ride a 26 mile loop over to Biddo, through the Port, and back to my home at Cheshire Meadows. The ride on Summer Street is the most harrowing part! A repaved road - and bike lane, if possible - would be wonderful. Thanks!

To every passerby the entire section of sidewalk just screams "Neglect". It's a forgotten zone that has deteriorated to the point of being hazardous to pedestrians and cyclists. The sidewalk dates to the 1800's and the road bed is heaved, cracked and inadequate for the volume of traffic it carries.

Turning, stopping, and parking has contributed to the deteriation of the road, shoulder, and sidewalk in front of the Wedding Cake House and the Emerson Inn, which are a major tourist attraction between Kennebunk and Kennebunkport.

Summer Street is not any street- it is the premier gateway to visitors. Today it is uneven at best in terms of image. The residents are trying to change that and to do their part. Meanwhile we badly need traffic calming to control truck traffic that has affected safety & quality of life for residents.

As a Kennebunk resident, I drive, bike, and walk Summer St on a daily basis. The Landing area is a gateway to our beaches, and other attractions, and needs to be made safe and welcoming to all. I hope you'll join me in this effort.
