The administration backed down and our open lunch policy stays exactly where it belongs. We forced them to listen to reason and kept our freedom intact. Keep watching them closely because we will be ready to fight again if they try this nonsense next year.

Final supporters
Oakland Tech is thinking about getting rid of off-campus lunch. Many people rely on being able to walk to stores to get food, or going out to their cars to grab something. The businesses around also rely on the students to keep their stores open. Without students buying their items, they would lose money and could close down, which would be harmful to the community.
This would also cause people to be late to first period because they will be buying lunch before school. If people buy lunches before school, the lunches could go bad by lunch.
They are also thinking of making there be two lunch periods since there is a large number of students. This would cause friend groups to be separated, and make being at school less enjoyable. Being able to see friends at lunch helps us relax from the stress of the morning, making for a smoother afternoon. Lunch is the only time some students are able to see friends, as they may not have classes together. An essential part of growing up is learning to be social in different situations.
Students may also not be able to talk to their teachers. If a student has lunch one period and their teacher has it the next, they won't be able to meet.
We encourage the school to find a different way to solve the problem.

One hundred people have spoken up against this ridiculous plan to lock us on campus. The administration needs to realize we are not going to sit quietly while they ruin our lunch break.

Honestly I count on off campus lunch to get my lunch. Cafeteria food is nasty and by taking away our off campus lunch, not only will it hurt the students but also the local businesses that thrive off students money. You would sabotage the whole Oakland tech community.
I'm an alumni of Tech. Open Campus lunch is just one aspect of the amazing community life that is Oakland Tech. Take it away and you're diminishing parts of the school's community. You'd also be hurting the economy by taking away customers for local businesses.
Please keep off campus lunch it's helpful to those of us who don't bring lunch because we have to much homework nd our parents are working all day
We should keep off campus lunch bc we get to see our friends Ma did we had two split lunch periods it wouldn't be right bc we wouldn't be with our friends which isn't fun .
Having two different lunch periods would mean every student must redo their schedule, making it difficult to take required or desired classes. Also, if the campus is closed for upper students until 7 minutes before the bell, what happens to those who need to take a test or speak to teachers?
Please keep it.

Off campus lunch is really important for me because I do not like the school lunch all the time, some times they have unhealthy foods. When they do, I am able to go buy the kind of food that I want across the street. Also, everyone does not always have the time or the food to make their own lunches so off campus lunch is essential for those students
