Petition to Keep The kids candle dipping room and paint your own pottery painting room OPEN in the Galloway Area!
* The owner of 3830 S Lone Pine Ave (three leased spaces in attached building) is requesting that area be rezoned from Limited Business District to General Retail to allow art classes and to allow the kids candle dipping and paint your own pottery studio to re-open after the city of Springfield Shut it down due to no studio allowed in Limited Business and a studio is allowed under General Retail.
*General Retail allows a studio which will enhance the community of galloway giving kids and families the opportunity to dip candles and and paint your own pottery. It also allows 3830 S. Lone Pine businesses to have art classes, summer art camps for kids, parent night out activities and birthday parties for kids.
*The spaces leased at these locations are a wonderful addition to our community as they offer over 50+ local artists crafts for sale, a kids candle dipping room and a paint your own pottery room, a wonderful little cafe and a great home decor shop. Village Gifts and Candles by Sonya has been a family owned and operated business owner in Galloway Village for over 5 years and Inspirational Home and Ashbrook Hollow and Whistlestop Cafe are going into their second year of serving the community with wonderful items.
*It is imperative that the residents in nearby neighborhoods and those that enjoy the Galloway area express their request to this change in zoning to continue the arts and crafts in Galloway Village.
This issue is going to be decided upon quickly, so we need to respond quickly. The first hearing at Planning and Zoning will be April 30th, and the second hearing will be City Council on June 1st. The decision will be made on a vote by City Council on June 15th. You do not need to live in the Galloway area to sign this petition
*Make it known that you are in support of the proposed zoning change at 3830 S Lone Pine Ave Springfield, MO 65804 to keep arts and crafts alive in Springfield, MO
The momentum behind this rezoning effort has reached a level that commands attention from local planning officials. I am currently finalizing a formal letter to the Zoning and Planning Commission to ensure they see this documented neighborhood support before the upcoming hearing.

Keep it open. We need these kinds of creative spaces for our kids instead of just more empty lots.

Common sense solution here. Help out a local business and stop the red tape.

Ridiculous that the city is shutting down a local business that actually does good for the neighborhood. Let the owner rezone and keep the doors open!

Galloway wont be the same without the candle room. Such a fun spot for birthday parties. Fix the zoning already!
