We, the undersigned, request that the four tennis courts at Thomas Williams Park remain tennis courts and NOT be converted to pickleball courts. We all play regularly at Thomas Williams Park, which has a long history of pick-up games and reducing the number of tennis courts to two would dramatically impact our ability to continue to do so. We request that other options be explored, such as 1) converting other township courts to pickleball as the Thomas Williams tennis courts are regularly utilized OR 2) making the changes so that the two courts you are suggesting be converted to pickleball could be utilized for EITHER pickleball OR tennis.
As much as I would like to see pickleball advance in the township and add to Cheltenham's standing in that activity, I would not be in favor of a proposal that shortchanges any group seeking to promote family fitness and community. Based on all of the comments, it seems to me that there are options that can satisfy everyone's needs and aspirations. If we work on this together, we can build something special in Cheltenham that promotes both activities at all levels of play. The petition as proposed seems to hint at this. Who's with me on this?
