This petition is to request/keep LifeTime San Clemente from converting tennis courts to pickleball courts. This is to request that LifeTime San Clemente NOT convert Center Court (Court 1) to pickleball court(s) and that LifeTime consider other alternatives and options for pickleball courts/play.

Updates

April 20, 2023

The feedback from fellow tennis players has been thoughtful and helps clarify why preserving Center Court is essential for the club culture. Conversations with management are ongoing and I am encouraged that they are at least acknowledging the depth of concern regarding our court space.

Seeing the momentum behind this effort reminds me how much our community values the character of our shared spaces. This level of engagement confirms that protecting our tennis facilities is a priority for many of us.

Tennis courts are challenging to book as well. The bigger problem seems to be parking. Until there is a solution to the parking problem - adding more courts and therefore more people (replacing 1 tennis court with 3/4 pickleball courts). Also the noise from pickleball at center court would make the whole experience at the cafe and outside deck loud.

I want center court to be kept as a tennis court. Pickelball is too loud for center. It will take away from the ambiance for those working and relaxing above center. I am a founding member.

Center Court is in the center of tge club. The increase in noise will change the pleasant atmosphere of the club. Plus it’s going to reverberate off the walls. I can’t imagine the city and neighbors above the club will be happy. See NPRs reporting on the negative effects of pickleball noise.

Please keep the all of the pickleball courts together on the road side of the facility. More convenient for PB players and more serene for all other members. PB may be fun to play but it is terrible to listen to.

Being a member the 2nd year of the original club I always enjoyed and still do the beautiful view looking out over center court to the ocean. Now just the thought of having to listen to the sound of pickle balls bouncing off our beautiful center court is, just not right..... Please don't do this to our club.

The loss of more courts and especially the loss of center court will cause me to consider other options to play tennis. Just want to make sure you know you are likely to lose a lot of tennis players if you take away one of the clubs unique attributes. The beautiful center court

At Lifetime Peachtree Corners Georgia, Corporate ignored the petition requesting that the 8 indoor tennis courts remain tennis courts. They instead converted 4 of the 8 indoor courts into 12 pickleball courts. This club was a nationally recognized Premier Tennis Facility. In addition, over 50% of the outdoor tennis courts are being converted into pickleball courts. Including stadium, center court and many of the outdoor hard courts. The club is in the Atlanta area with very hot summers, rainy & cold in other seasons. The indoor tennis courts were a desired amenity that brought members to the club since it was one of the few in the area with indoor tennis courts. You can imagine the noise!!!

I hope it's a flop in San Clemente. Lifetime is doing the same thing at Peachtree Corners in GA. Big uproar going on. WE ARE A TENNIS FACILITY!
