Keep the courts as tennis courts or convert two of the tennis court for a duel use pickleball and tennis. Why penalize the tennis players by reducing the number of tennis courts in which we have been playing on for 20 to 30 years.

I suggest that you paint pickle ball lines on the courts so that they can be used by either sport, therefore there is no setup time for pickle ball and tennis players don’t lose any courts.

We blow the leaves and at times remove them, we remove the many dog messes, fixed the gates, put up wind screens to block the glare from the cars, tied down the nets and have repaired or replaced every net over the years. As far as I know we have never asked the township for anything except to unlock the gates last year.

As much as I would like to see pickleball advance in the township and add to Cheltenham's standing in that activity, I would not be in favor of a proposal that shortchanges any group seeking to promote family fitness and community. Based on all of the comments, it seems to me that there are options that can satisfy everyone's needs and aspirations. If we work on this together, we can build something special in Cheltenham that promotes both activities at all levels of play. The petition as proposed seems to hint at this. Who's with me on this?

TW tennis courts are the only courts within walking distance for Wyncote residents. My family uses them regularly as we can 1) walk!!!, 2) see our kids on the playground/basketball court/fields while we play. Other tennis courts we have tried aren’t situated like this. If pickle ball is largely played during the day, perhaps a compromise can be reached to allow the courts to be set up for easy conversion between the two sports. Losing 2 of the courts would make it challenging to reliably find a court when working families are able to play.

My wife and I play Pickleball at Cheltenham Wall Park. We have met many new friends and hope to meet many more. The disservice of having to use temporary is time consuming and takes away from the experience that tennis players have, the ease of just getting to the courts and playing. Having permanent courts would bring many more people to play Pickleball. We currently have 146 people on our roster, playing every weekday and two nights during the week, April through November, no scheduled play on weekends.Winter two nights a week at Cedarbrook. We never interfere with tennis players at Wall Park, in fact we rarely see any tennis players. We have an active group now and only have been in existence since April. The PickleBall crowd is growing. All should be able to enjoy township amenities .

I have played pickle ball on the TW courts many times during CTAS classes and other times on weekdays and have seen very few tennis players on the courts. The TW courts very well may have greater use on weekends, but there have been an increasing number of Cheltenham Pickleball players- 10-25, playing every weekday using temporary nets at Wall Park. The downsides of temporary nets is that they require set up time, need to be stored on site, and blow down when it is a bit windy. The week day numbers of people playing reflect the fact that pickle ball is a sport within the capabilities of senior/retired people to play, more so than tennis or other sports. Instead of the very low use of tennis courts during the weekdays, please consider enhancing life for seniors as well as younger folks in the Cheltenham community , by supporting pickle ball courts at TW.
