The owner has officially agreed to keep the pier open to anglers. I am honestly stunned by this result and I know this is entirely because you chose to speak up for our history. Please keep looking out for each other on the pier so we can keep this community …

The new owner of Eastbourne Pier (Sheikh Abid Gulza) wants to stop the fishing at the end of Eastbourne Pier. There has been fishing on the pier for as long as people can remember. It is part of Eastbournes history. The fishing is run by Arran Aghili of AT Tackle. Arran is very popular and runs a lot of competitions and raises a lot of money for charity, such as the RNLI. We would like to see the pier fishing continue way into the future. It's also a very safe place to fish and has a good community spirit. Please sign this petition and help save part of Eastbournes history

I honestly never imagined we would reach one hundred signatures this quickly. It is truly your passion for our pier and Arran's work that has brought this much attention to the cause.

Please save the fishing on the pier, as to stop would mean taking rest bite away from people who work hard to savour a couple of hours downtime from lifes stresses, not to mention keeping a new generations away from various crimes that blight the community.

Please support Aaron to remain on the pier. My son has loved fishing from there and it provides a unique opportunity for people with physical difficulties who would not be able to fish from the beach to feel included in the angling community.

Pier fishing is a local tradition and facility, and is part of a vital link between the owners of the pier and your local users .If you really want to retain public good will ,Sheikh Abid Gulza ,and you will need it in the future ,please reconsider.

You want youngsters to stop sitting in front of the tv and playing computer games and fishing is a great way to do that! But how you going to get them out fishing if there is no where to go or if they have to travel miles to get to somewhere to fish ?

I am sure there is space for this, there are lots of people that enjoy watching and talking to the fishermen. But i do wonder if they are wanting the space for the boat trips that they are talking about?? Hopefully the new owner can accommodate both?

To stop fishing off Eastbourne Pier would end a tradition that has gone on for generations in this town. It is part of our heritage. This is on behalf of my late husband who fished off the pier as a boy and love every minute of it.

Totally no need to stop fishing from the end of the pier. Fishing from piers is as traditional as the pier itself

Please dont take away the average mans pleasure. What some see as a birth right perhaps? Why not ask the local anglers who use the pier what they would pay per rod per session and per year. Then as a business concern investment can be considered against outlay?
