Signers of this petition demand that Parker Town Council remove the new land use section titled "East Downtown Gateway" from the new 2035 Parker Master Plan and keep Pine Curve protected under the Parker Historic Center Design Standards.
Pine Curve is the vacant, hilly property on the east side of Pine Drive and Mainstreet owned by the Town of Parker. The land became part of the Historic Center in 2002. Standards for the Historic Center prohibit automotive uses, restrict the size of buildings to be "compatible with existing development and historical development patterns," and emphasize a pedestrian-centric design.
Creators of the new 2035 Parker Master Plan are suggesting that Pine Curve be removed from the Historic Center and included in a new district called the "East Downtown Gateway" where automotive and "big box" uses will be permitted, thus allowing a King Soopers grocery store and gas station to be built on that land.
Citizens feel that a King Soopers and gas station on Pine Curve are not only economically nonviable, but will completely change the historic charm we are working to preserve on Mainstreet east of Parker Road. Please sign the petition to protect Pine Curve.

I have spent my mornings walking past that hill and imagining it covered in asphalt instead of the history we deserve to keep. The town has been quiet about our concerns but the amount of neighbors stopping me to talk about this proves we are paying attention to their plans.

I would like to see this area left alone so that we can have a glimpse of some open space when you get to the main junction of Parker! As a 30 year resident of Parker I am appalled that every single empty lot or space of land seems to be built on lately- Believe me it is not a crime to leave a little open space in Parker-that is what most of us moved here for in the first place!
I would be more inclined to allow small independent business that bring charm and personality to Main St. No one comes out of their way to see a King Soopers, besides we have that huge new one on Cottonwood that is in a great location for a big box store. Mary Margaret Parker, 80138
Rezoning Pine Curve is not necessary and will impact the area traffic greatly. It is already bad there. This is public land paid by our tax money so the city council should listen to the Parker residents to keep the "Pine Curve" historic.
This is a demonstration of the total disregard the Town Council has for Parker residents and their constituents. This plan is nothing more than a money making tax plan and cares nothing about the character of Parker and the reason most of us chose to live in Parker and NOT AURORA OR DENVER. I could not be more opposed to this plan.
Please don't develop this land and add to the already obnoxious light and noise pollution in Rowley Downs and the surrounding neighborhoods.

Surely this beautiful piece of property could be used for something better than a gas station or drive thru. How about a park?
