Lake County Illinois has a Noise Ordinance that prohibits the operation of off-road vehicles on private property. The reason behind the ordinance is to prevent a nuisance from the very load noises these vehicles produce, which greatly disturbs the peace and scares away the wildlife. The Highland Terrace development is located next to a property owner who knowingly and deliberately violates this ordinance and has been fined twice in the last 9 months for the violations. The last fine was given on Sunday June 12, 2022 after the homeowner was caught operating an off-road vehicle on his property again. The homeowner says he plans to fight the fine of $115.00 in court on July 11th. The object of this petition is to prevent that from happening by showing solidarity between the residents of Highland Terrace and other individuals who believe we all have the right to (1) peace and serenity (2) should enjoy fresh air without noise pollution (3) and that repeat violations of the ordinance should be punished. It’s very frustrating when a neighbor does not show respect and consideration for their neighbors in something so simple as noise pollution when there are many other off-roading area available.
These people should be shut down for the noise

The noise is absolutely ridiculous on the weekends. Some of us actually work and need some peace and quite, stop acting like you live in the middle of nowhere.
