We respectfully ask the East of England Co-op to keep the store on The Green in Acle open for a trial period of at least a year after refurbishing the Norwich road store to test a business case for both shops running side by side as it has in other towns and villages. Whilst we are delighted that a wider range of products will be on offer on the former Budgens premises the store on The Green is an invaluable community asset in the heart of the village and is a lifeline for many older and infirm members of the community.

This store is always very busy. It's on the main street so picks up lots of passing trade as well as having a very large number of local loyal customers a great many of whom are very elderly, living close to the store.
I think its will be great having the a larger co-op but will miss the convenience of being able to walk to the store. The budgens site is too far to walk with shopping and I don't want to raise my carbon footprint and have to drive. If I'm going to get the car out I'll go to a supermarket instead :(
I think there should be a trial of running both shops in parallel as suggested. It's a shame to have no 'village shop' at the heart of the village and will alter the character of the green detrimentally.
Two Coops survive very well in Martham, supplying both ends of the village. This would be the same in Acle. Please trial both Coops to prove this.
People at the current Co-op end of Acle need to have easy access to day to day groceries, particularly the elderly, The Limes is right next door, residents there us it a lot. To have only the one shop at the extreme other end is very inconvenient and discriminatory
Stayed in Acle when I was a child. Loved the ice cream from Co-op. Convenient for villagers.
I do NOT think the heart of our village needs to be dominated by an undertakers at this site. I'm sure the shop would still thrive with the larger store open

I definitely think it should be kept open! There is so much need for it... the elderly people from this end of the village... school children-its a meeting social point for children after school. I live this side of the village and use the coop at least 3-4 times a week!! ITS A MUST!!!
