On February 18, 2020 at the school board meeting Coach Hoffert was up for approval for the Head Coach of Fleetwood Area High School football team. He is HIGHLY qualified and was all set to go when at the last minute, two angry parents decided to hold an executive session with the board members. This executive session allowed them to privately address the board and administration. His position was then denied and nobody knows what was said and no further questions were asked by our board! Two parents were allowed to upend the choice made by our administration for the newest coach of the Fleetwood Tigers football program. Please sign this petition to stop the precedent that anyone can make accusations privately and people will be let go or fired without further investigation... NO QUESTIONS ASKED. This is scary and a very slippery slope for all teachers, coaches and employees of the Fleetwood Area School District.

The entire situation is unacceptable. The school board should have never entertained their request for a meeting. They should have addressed their concerns in an open forum like the rest of the community.
Parents shouldn’t be able to dictate who is hired or not hired just because there have a personal beef with someone. If the person that is being hired has no criminal background and is going to do the best job for our children/community the the best man/woman should be hired for the job.
The school board has no backbone to stand on. Changing its mind last minute over the opinion of a couple. when the overall well-being for these student athletes would be to keep the head coach you had already hired and to keep continuity for the team. This coach did nothing wrong this school board should be ashamed of itself.
I'm confused as to the knee-jerk reaction to 2 parents!? School boards should do as good teachers instruct and good students do when faced with a problem, give yourself some think time! School board votes can be delayed, I don't understand the rush to judgment! A public apology may be in order?
This is a dangerous precedent for the future. Will good coaches come to Fleetwood knowing they could be released on the say-so of a couple of parents?
This is ridiculous. If there were legit concerns, it should have been a public forum. The board needs to grow a spine. What power do those people hold that don’t even have a board chair? Unreal. Money talks, bulls#!%t wins. Corruption kills the dreams of others. LET HIM COACH!!

When all it takes is 2 voices to sway a board without any investigation or or table a vote till others can be heard is very scary for us as a school and a community.
