We, the residents of the UCLA-Olive View Emergency Medicine residency program, feel that Dr. David Talan brings unique knowledge and an impossible-to-replicate experience that adds tremendously to our educations as doctors. His expertise in infectious disease is unique among emergency medicine physicians, and with it he offers a dimension to our training that would be impossible to replace. His long and pioneering experience and research over decades in emergency and internal medicine also provide us with perspectives and learning that virtually no other physician could bring. There is no doubt in our minds that our skill sets and knowledge bases would be poorer if we lost him as an attending, and thus patient care at Olive View now and in the wider community later would suffer. We all ask that he be allowed to continue working and teaching residents at Olive View.

Seeing this kind of backing reminds me why I started this fight for Dr. Talan. The momentum you have built shows that his teaching is just as vital to our community as it is to our residency program.

Dr Talan is institutional gold. He has taught me so much and makes me proud to be a UCLA Olive View EM Resident. He is a key factor in continuing to recruit stellar residents to our program and is an irreplaceable teacher. I've learned so much from him.
He's made me a better doctor and I cannot imagine other residents losing the chance to learn from him.
Dave is an invaluable and irreplaceable part of the educational experience at UCLA-OVMC. He is an is institution and landmark at OVMC in both the emergency department and in ID. His continued contribution is paramount to the success of current and former residents who have and will continue to benefit from his good will, knowledge and mentorship.
Dr Talan is an irreplaceable fund of knowledge and compassion and I agree 100% it would be a huge detriment to see him go.
Taught me everything about antibiotics in the Er. It would be a shame to have the next generation loose this knowledge
He is an absolute asset to our program!
