The school board decided to keep the name and I am honestly shocked by the outcome. This result belongs entirely to the people who spoke up for our shared history. Please keep a close watch on the school communications as we move forward together.

After reading many comments of people wishing they had a place to sign a petition to show that they are against the name change I decided to give them a place. This is not meant to be a jab at the other petition but more so give everyone a chance to make their voice heard if you will and for both sides to be seen and heard in numbers. One thing that is asked for anyone who signs this petition is that you only sign if you have a connection with the Marshfield, WI Columbus Catholic School System.

Keep the name Columbus...supporting this name doesn’t make you a racist....and if you’re for a change that doesn’t mean you’re not a racist...it all comes down to how you treat people. This is a great school.

Class of ‘98 Proud Graduate of Columbus Catholic Schools! Honor the Knights of Columbus who made the school possible many years ago. They invested lots of time, effort and money and deserve to have their organization named in our school. They are present at commencement every year for that very reason, they are an integral part of it.

Tradition. I debated this over and over. I read the history of the schools name. This whole thing is going too far and I believe our young people do not understand all this change...all this debate is so uneccesary. Some things need to change but no harm in continuing a name that causes no harm.

All of our children graduated from Columbus Catholic and they all have earned advanced degrees. Thank you for a great school. What happens inside not the outside, that is what is important!!

Class of 1981. Marshfield Columbus was never about patronizing idealizing the actions and deeds of Christopher Columbus, it was and still remains an institution of higher learning and Christian values.

I graduated in 1960. The name Columbus Catholic was an icon back then. The students were a proud group We were taught by Religious Nuns and Priests. Father Rossiter was the principle. Our scool was the best around in scholastics and sports. A name is just a name but it belongs to our past. Please keep it and the Statue.

We should not mess with HISTORY. It is what it is. Changing the name won't change anything.

Changing the name doesn’t change history. Trying to change history doesn’t change our future. Changing our future because of our history is what we need to focus. We do this because of the history if we allow for improvement in our outward actions so that history doesn’t repeat itself. History keeps this in perspective. A name change to erase history is wasting unnecessary resources on our moving forward as a society. If we erase history instead of remember it and make changes, history will repeat itself.
