Changing the name doesn’t change history. Trying to change history doesn’t change our future. Changing our future because of our history is what we need to focus. We do this because of the history if we allow for improvement in our outward actions so that history doesn’t repeat itself. History keeps this in perspective. A name change to erase history is wasting unnecessary resources on our moving forward as a society. If we erase history instead of remember it and make changes, history will repeat itself.

Class of 1979. While I certainly feel these young ladies have a right to their opinion, I feel they should have begun this process by contacting school officials to discuss their concerns. I hope they realized the long term ramifications that this change could have on the entire Catholic school system in Marshfield. If they truly want to make the world a better place, I would suggest they volunteer at one of the many places that could benefit from their time and God given talents.
