As the cafe part of Back to Black exceeds the floor area permitted for activity at our location on the Weteringstraat 48, we have been ordered by the Gemeente Amsterdam/ the municipality to cease trading. This means that our Neighbourhood café will cease to exist after a very enjoyable 20 months on the Weteringstraat 48.

I have been staring at the legal notices all day and trying to wrap my head around how a few extra square meters of coffee service can suddenly threaten the whole existence of such a cozy spot. It is exhausting to navigate all this red tape but hearing your stories about why this cafe matters gives me the fuel to keep pushing despite the constant stress.

Wel degelijk is het duidelijk dat de gemeente klakkeloos regels probeert door te voeren. Er zou moeten gekeken worden naar het belang van een dergelijk cafeetje voor de buurt en wat dat met zich meebrengt, daarop voortbordurend te kijken naar alternatieve oplossing.
B2B is echt een aanwinst voor de buurt! Ik woon er om de hoek en begin zelf een winkel 20 meter verderop - zonder B2B zal het leuke en gevarieerde straatbeeld van de Lijnbaansgracht weer veranderen in een sombere zooi. B2B moet blijven zoals het nu is!
Fantastic little gem of a cafe. Gemeente Amsterdam do not stand in the way of my girlfriend and back to blacks appeltaart or there will be hell to pay. The girls have Worked too hard to set up a great business and keep it running.
Living right across the street from the cafe at Weteringstraat 45, I can say they never caused any issues, on the contrary they are an absolutely great addition to the neighborhood, stay Back to Black! <3
Back to black enables sense of community not only through offering a place but also through a sense of belonging by promoting products of Amsterdam. Especially in a neighborhood with a high degree of touristy hospitality and commercial shops Back to Black is highly appreciated by its differentiation.

It's not right to shut down local neighbourhood places places like Back to Black. Places like here keep Amsterdam nice unlike all the tourist gelato and waffel chains that are infesting Amsterdam.
