We are asking for your support to save our beloved neighborhood hub, Bar Sepia. The building is now for sale and we're being forced to close. We want to purchase the building we've called home for the past 14 years and are gathering signatures to convince the owner to reconsider selling it to us. Bar Sepia is located at 234 Underhill Avenue in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn in a neighborhood that has grown exponentially in the past decade.
We took on the challenge to open our business when not many were interested in investing in the area and have partnered with the community to build a place where everyone is welcome and many consider a second home. We know it's a long shot but we've made incredible progress.
Thus far, we've been approved for a mortgage and are now in a position to make a credible offer. Bar Sepia is an iconic local place with a TON of heart. I celebrated many a milestone and important birthday there. It is an essential neighborhood gathering space- and woman-owned as well! Please keep Bar Sepia open and allow them to buy the building!
Bar Sepia is one of the amazing businesses that make this neighborhood the thriving community it is. Allowing them to purchase this building will keep not only this amazing local business open, but this neighborhood an iconic corner of New York owned by real people.
Native Brooklynites thank you for servicing our community when very few would. Hopefully your landlord understands the significance of maintaining the authentic character and perserverance of native Brooklyn, and offers to sell to you.
This was my favorite spot for years. It is not just another bar. It is a community. Felissa and Elia are anchors for thousdands who have spent time there. Let them buy it! Why in the world would you not? Please do the right thing.
Bar Sepia has been a favorite gathering place for my book club for over 10 years. I lived in Prospect Heights for 5 years and was a regular there, thanks to its welcoming, down-to-earth, diverse vibe. It is a gem and should be allowed to stay a part of the community.

I can't say I've been to your establishment, but I can say I will not patronize any business that tries to take your place, even if it were a comic book store. It's a shame that some landlords only look at our neighborhood as if it were a money making device and not a place where people live. It's also a shame that some landlords do not acknowledge and give priority to the businesses that took a chance on a location that wasn't shi-shi and hipstered up.

One of the central threads of this community, Bar Sepia has done more to build friendships and connections across ethnic and socio economic lines than most local churches and politicians combined. It’s not just a “bar” it’s part of my home.
