The current level of interest has provided the objective leverage required to request a formal meeting with the district board. I am now finalizing the internal documentation to present our stance during the upcoming scheduled hearing.

I firmly believe in the unity of a neighborhood school. When families move into a neighborhood they always consider the school their children will go to. If they like the school they will be more inclined to move to that area of town. Don't change John Marshall. Keep it going the way it is and allow our young families some stability in their neighborhood and school.
There are many families who are dear to me in the John Marshall neighborhood. As a former paraprofessional in the WSD and now a teacher in the inner city of St. Paul (where preschool was not an option for most of my students) I have seen the importance of early education to help children develop foundational and academic skills. Please keep this option available to the many children in the John Marshall neighborhood!
I have a child in 4K at John Marshall right now and next year they want to send my next child all the way cross town I bought a house in this neighborhood so my kids could go to John Marshall
Three of my four children have attended 4K at John Marshall and it's been such a positive experience for them. While all my kids are done with the 4K program I am so sad for the upcoming kids that will be bussed out of our great neighborhood. I haven't heard if there is a solid reason for this. I would be very interested in hearing why this change is necessary and how it will benefit our kids and the district.
Thank you for starting this. My little one has been counting down to when he gets to go to his "big " school and walk there. We were really devasted to learn that this year, of all years, they decided to change it. Especially surprising since there are SO many little ones in this neighborhood.

We will most likely not participate in the Wausau district 4k program if we are not able to send our child to our neighborhood school, John Marshall.
