The district has officially reinstated the coaching staff and we can finally get back to the game. I am truly stunned by the outcome and I know this only happened because you showed up for Coach Terry. Thank you for making this right.

Gates Chili cannot fire our High School Basketball Coaching Staff for unjustified reasons. Our Coach, Terry Nowden (Gates Chili Alumn), recently took the time and leisure to fund 100% of the trip for his players to go to a football game as a team bonding event in the off-season. We had a fun time and everybody grew closer as a result. However, 1 week later, the school district unfairly accused our coaching staff of the state of their soberness during the event. Although, we had a designated driver and bus for transportation back home. Furthermore, this was an off-season event in which parents directly signed for permission so their child could go. Also, these are responsible adults at the end of the day, there might have been a discrepancy, but they did not deserve to be fired because of it. Lastly, Coach Terry helped rebuild our basketball program immensely, which allowed us to make it to the semifinals of sectionals at the Blue Cross Arena. This had been our first time back in this arena after many years. Additionally, Coach Terry won the Coach of the Year Award for this accomplishment. Gates Chili please bring back our coaching staff. Our winning mentality and legacy must go on.

While I understand the issue, and it should not happen, it was a mistake and it should have been handled differently especially considering his contributions to the children and district. Give him another chance.
The sentence does not meet the crime! Should there be a consequence yes should it be this hard no. You chose this man to improve your sports program and he's done just that. Because of a poor choice you'll remove him? Shame on you, Your loss
It’s a crime to make kids bond what is the world we live in coming to not like they were in a gang and selling drugs they went to another sporting event come on we’re is the harm in that please explain it to me
worst decision gates chili could make. you ignore EVERY other complaint that our students have but this is somehow a good way to deal with things? to fire somebody? gates chili truly does not know how to treat staff.
It should be appreciated he had them doing something positive rather than in the streets. He wasn't on the clock and it had nothing to do with school. There was a designated driver, no reason why he should have been fired!

This is unjust and uncalled for. What goes on off season outside of school should not be a concern for the school and it should not be their decision to fire the staff over something like this. If the coaches were white it would have been a different story.
