IT Network Shut-down/Library Closure? Please extend our deadline!
The Goldsmiths IT network will be shut down from 09:00 hrs on Saturday 11 July to Thursday 16 July 2015 for work on a major service upgrade (6 days). Since our first deadline is just on 20th July (Contemporary Issues in Cultural Policy) and our dissertation's deadline is on 17th August, this closure and the IT shutdown will affect us directly as we will miss more than one week of access to sources (including the VLE), while we will not have internet access (especially our classmates who live in a university hall).
- The Rutherford Building, including the Library, will be closed from Saturday 11 July to Tuesday 14 July inclusive. (4 days)
- From 11–18 July the first floor of the Library is being re-furbished and so the books and periodicals from 001–699 will not be available. (8 days)
- The first floor study space will not be accessible.
- VLE sources will not be accessible.
This closure comes drastically at a crucial time in the development of our dissertations and Summer Term assessments (due to 20th July!) and will cause delays in the progress of our research that can only be made up with additional days given in the form of an extension to our deadline. For that reason, we would like to ask for an extension of our deadline for the submission of our dissertation, in order to be able to prepare works which will reflect our personal effort and the Department's academic and educational contribution during this year.
Thank you for your time and understanding,
The MA CPRD/CPT students
