We as students feel that the new dress code for the sixth form is too strict, we feel that we are too restricted on what to wear and it removes a privilege of the sixth form. We have trialled it for a term and we still feel unhappy as it creates an unhappy working environment, we also have the backing of our parents. We are asking if the following issues can be changed. Boys to wear clean smart denim jeans, sweatshirts, reasonable t shirts along with smart trainers. Girls to wear clean smart denim jeans, sweatshirts, leggings, t shirts and shoes that don’t have to be black. We look forward to your response.

The feedback from students and parents confirms we are all feeling the same frustration with these rules. I am preparing a formal document to present to the administration.

It’s becoming less popular, I’ve noticed, for 6th Forms to have a dress code realistically, I once was a high school teacher for 19 years before I had a career change in 2014. A lot more personality and sparkle was shown around lower and upper 6th since the change and I think this should apply for this school too. Thank you and good luck Year 12 & 13!

This is very off putting for my Daughters future, and as a Businessman I don’t understand your phrase of ‘Getting ready for work’ in year 12 when year 13 don’t have this?????

To be perfectly honest, I would really like my son to come into school with a more lenient uniform, strictly because it was his choice to stay on at CHS 6th Form and from this it would be appropriate if he wore a less strict dress code, perhaps other students can focus more in comfortable clothing

This is one of the reasons my sons left and went to college, plus the expense to parents . Let students be individuals

For decades 6th formers have been known to be the one's in "normal clothing" so why fix something that isn't broken? These young adults should be trusted to wear the clothes they choose. Give them the freedom as it's part of growing up., obviously if they turn up in inappropriate clothing then send them home, but jesns and t-shirt are smart enough in most people's eyes!

Not everyone can afford to be buying new clothes for their child when their current ones are perfectly acceptable

How awful, one of the reasons I chose to move to a different sixth form.

I agree that the petition issued is perfectly suitable for young adults in the workplace
