As a fellow Island School student and athlete, we wear supporter shirts almost everyday; and as much as we love supporting our school by wearing its colors (royal blue and gold), I am creating this petition to voice that we can still represent our school with supporter shirts that do not have just royal blue and gold. By us students, parents, and some staff members voting that the colors we wear don’t determine how much school spirit we have—we are more likely to make a greater amount of money and be able to support our school and its athletics more than we are able to now. Plus, if every single supporter shirt is royal blue and gold, no body is going to want to wear it. That results in an inability to express yourself and less school spirit.

I met with the student athletic council today to present our proposal for diversifying the apparel color palette. They requested a formal summary of the revenue projections we discussed so I am drafting that document now for their next board review.

The administration has acknowledged the surge in petition support and agreed to a formal meeting to discuss our proposed revisions to the spirit wear policy. I am currently drafting a document outlining the projected revenue increase for our athletic department based on these new design options.
