Install Traffic Lights On Rt 51 at Mexico Farms Road, PPG Road and Messick Road.

Rt. 51 in Allegany County Maryland from the Cumberland City Limits to PPG Road has become one of the most dangerous highways in the Tri-state Area to drive. The stretch of highway was constructed in the late 1980's to provide better access to the Industrial Park in Mexico Farms. Since its construction the traffic has increased dramatically while safety concerns with the 55mph speed limit, the intersections of Messick Rd, Uhl Hwy, Blue Valley Rd, Mexico Farms Rd and PPG Rd have been left unaddressed by the Maryland State Highway Administration. Accidents continue to rise while the Maryland State Highway Administration uses flawed and inaccurate statistics to continue to deny that there is a public safety problem for those working and living along Rt 51. Its time that the Maryland Highway Administration lowers the maximum speed of 55mph to a safer speed and also installs traffic lights a Messick Rd, Mexico Farms Rd and PPG Rd. I live on the emergency route on Messick Road. I see how difficult it is to leave Messick Road. Many accidents occur along route 51. This would also slow down the traffic as it comes into the city limits. For safety sake, put in lights!
Very dangerous intersection. When sitting at the stop sign and trying to figure out if cars are turning or going straight, it's confusing because it's on a curve. Poorly designed exit lane in combination with the curve of the road.
I would like to see strips put across the road at the end of Mexico Farms. I personally have slid out onto 51 twice when it started to rain though I had slowed down to stop. It gets very slick with the coal trucks debri. I think we need a traffic light or strips to slow down across 51 too at the intersections.
This needs to happen as soon as possible. This road is dangerous with accidents just waiting to happen. I drive it every day and can't tell you how many times I have seen accidents and near misses. It scares me to know that my daughter will have to drive down this road one day.
Badly needed; way to many accidents, deaths, and injuries. I am a resident of the farms, and it is a real challenge and risk to get thru this intersection at times.

My daughter's best friend was killed near their several months ago, and there has been many accidents before and since her friend was killed. The government needs to install traffic lights or be accountable for all the tragedies that happen there.
