The new policy requiring full disclosure of investigations is finally official. I am drained from this long fight but I am relieved that families will now have the honesty they deserve. We should stay alert to ensure these rules are actually followed in practice.

Parents should be informed of a Child Protection Services (CPS) investigation that finds a caretaker of their child committed abuse even if their child was not the central victim of the investigation. Daycares should not be able to quietly fire the abuser and not inform the parents.

It’s hard for parents to decide to return to work after having a baby if they don’t trust their children are safe.
Parents should ALWAYS be informed of any abuse that takes place in their presence whether or not it is happening on their physical body.
It is horrifying as a parent that such abuses and investigations can be hidden. Please require that notifications go out so parents are aware.
First, I’m shocked that this type of abuse would happen and that administration / other staff would not take action sooner. Any staff with awareness of abuse that did not report to CPS is considered liable according to mandatory reporting laws. Families of children in contact with the abuser should be informed of the concerns and should have the right to chose a different location of care.
This should already be in place! It is the parents right to know what is going on with their child as they are the child’s voice!
