The state legislature has confirmed that the safety improvements for RR 2222 are moving forward as a direct result of our appeal. I am currently confirming the timeline for the installation of the new protective measures and will provide updates as construction crews begin their work on-site.

Dear Mr. Workman:
This letter is in behalf of Jessica Nicole Getz-Brooks who was fatally injured in a motorcycle collision on
Monday, March 30, 2015, by a car attempting to make a left turn on RR 2222 in Austin, TX, near Vaught Ranch Road.
The tragedy of her death is beyond description. There are not enough words to express our loss of such a wonderful, loving, giving, talented young woman. Twenty-four (24) years old. Her 25th birthday would have been coming up on May 29th. Jessica was a jewel, a treasure to everyone that knew her.
Jessica and her husband Bart had only been married for two (2) weeks.
The family suffers from her loss more than can be expressed in words. Her Mother, her husband, her sister and many other family members and friends are in disbelief that such a catastrophic incident would even enter their lives.
My plea to you, Mr. Workman, is - please author a bill that will bring some control to this very, very dangerous highway RR 2222. I spoke a few days ago with a woman who was born and raised in Austin.
She said, 'Highway 2222 is the most dangerous road in all of Austin.'
Just a few days later after Jessica died another twenty year old man died on that same highway – a car attempting to make a left-hand turn.
If the road is that dangerous why in the world wouldn't there be GREEN LEFT-TURN SIGNALS in various places where cars need / want to make left-hand turns. Mr. Workman, right now there is no control on that road. What is needed are:
STOP LIGHTS
GREEN LEFT-TURN ARROWS
SLOWER SPEED LIMIT
Sir, that road is a deathtrap. There are too many motorcycle fatalities on that road AND the devastation to the families of those who have died on that road – well, there is no way to express the heavy impact it has had on all of the families of those fatally injured. No way to express the grief and the loss . . . .

The reach of this petition has reached a level that enables me to secure a direct meeting with the local transportation committee. I am currently finalizing the evidence packet to ensure our request for safety improvements on RR 2222 remains the primary focus of that discussion.

I lived in Austin for over 10 years and avoided 2222 because I felt it was dangerous. Making changes could improve the safety of drivers.
This road has taken way too many lives... Including my sister on 4/6/15. it is not well lit at all and there needs to be more traffic lights. Something needs to be done!!!
Please let's get a slower speed limit, some stop lights, and some green left turn arrows on that dangerous road and prevent heartbreak from tragedies like these. Every life matters. Thanks!
Jessica is my daughter. Her being gone is a tragedy like none other I have delt with. She was so young and had so much to live for. For the price of a stop light for the ones that need to turn you can save other families from this living nightmare. Thank you.
Jessica was my niece and my family has been forever altered because this road is a death trap. There have been numerous fatal accidents on FM2222. How many more must die before action is taken to make this highway safe for all?
I miss Jessica more than words describe I miss talking to her and laughing with her. She was so much more to me Than a cousin.

I ride and too many drivers only look for other cars and never even notice the smaller targets like bikes. I'm 56 years old and would hope to live longer.
