The highway upgrade has been officially approved and construction is finally on the schedule. I honestly never imagined we could pull this off but you proved me wrong by refusing to stay silent. Let’s keep checking in once the crews arrive to make sure the work is actually finished.

Currently highway 663 is a major route for not only local
residents to access the landfill, residential housing, a tourism route for many
lakes and campgrounds, but also accessed by many commercial trucks and
semi-trucks avoiding the weigh scales, as well as using the dump. Currently the road is in such a
horrifying state that school buses have deemed it unsafe to transport children
on and have cancelled on families after a snow or rain storm. This highway is
so heavily used that it is in our opinion that simply grading it is no longer
sufficient as minimal upkeep has been maintained over the last several years.
We the residents of Lac La Biche are urging you to hear our voice and support
our municipality to help make secohighway 663 safe!

I am honestly stunned by how many people have joined this cause. It is clear that this road is a lifeline for us all and seeing this momentum grow has been truly overwhelming. This belongs to every one of you who spoke up about the danger on our highway.

Vehicles are being wreaked hundreds of dollars on tires from nails on the road school buses won't travel the road because it's to dangerous I've traveled this road for 29 years it's time to pave it it's a mess
The roads are in a horrible state, my parents have to drive a 4x4 truck to meet the buses half way and also to run any errands .With today's modern equipment there is no reason that the roads have to be in such shape.
Who will be held accountable when our kids are killed coming home from school on the bus? This road is less than a dirt road. What if I need an ambulance out here and they can't get to me ? Then what?
I drove that highway for a year back in 2012 as the state of that highway put my stomach in knots, escpecially during the winter months there was not a time that I drove white knuckled......a definated must this highway needs attention asap!
I find it very unfair all the large trucks and equipment use this road to get to the dump and the citizens who own homes and pay taxes are suffering with dangerous driving conditions on a regular basis. Sad when even the school bus drivers won't take the roads some days.
This petition needs to be revitalized. Let's talk about a paper version as well and go door to door. This is embarrassing to call this a "highway".

As a community member living down this road for many years I believe it's sad in this day in age to even have a road this horrific. This road leads to the municipal landfill and many homes in the community including a subdivision (Deer Ridge). The Province and County should work together to rectify this road matter as soon as possible.
