For six years DOTD has promised three lanes open in each direction. Then, they changed to only two lanes and now only one lane will remain open during the proposed I-10 widening project. If it goes to one lane and an accident occurs, you have NO lanes. Studies: $1010 in extra costs per driver per year; 27% more time in traffic; 60 hours per year per driver in traffic; 25 gallons of gas extra. Baton Rouge is rated 4th worst in U.S.. And that's BEFORE they close all but one lane. Idiocy.
Ignored the voice of citizens. Public meetings were all strategically designed to be siloed and isolated. Failed to obtain necessary permits after changes were made in plan. New City Park bridges not needed.
Why not have public discussion regarding the impact (monetary, lost time, and impaired efficiency) one lane each way will have on all aspects of our community: business, healthcare, product delivery and wasted gas and diesel caused by parking lot Interstate lanes.
I am in favor of widening I-10 but I think that the timing is very troublesome. From my point of view, the widening needs to occur after a new bridge is constructed and significant improvements have been made to the ferrying capabilities. I believe that the resources need to be redirected until alternate pathways are established.
Accidents at this time with one lane blocked back up traffic past LA 415 on the interstate and 2 miles south on LA1 north bound. One lane for 12-14 months is unrealistic. And, there is no guarantee on that time span based on past experience with work.
As a former resident, and frequent commuter to and through Baton Rouge, I feel like rethinking the solution could lead to fewer interim problems with already abysmal accessibility to our capitol city. Perhaps a Town Hall meeting is still in order?
I understand the Mississippi River Bridge in Baton Rouge is the biggest road block on Interstate 10 over its entire 2,460.34 mile length from Santa Monica to Jacksonville. Let's not make it worse in Baton Rouge please.

This project is too long, a 15 year project in any downtown area of any city will destroy it. We do not need to replace the 2 City Park Bridges, nor most of the I-10. Plus we need ALTERNATIVE ROUTES before we start this long, big project. Finish I-49 to I-10/New Orleans.
