We, the undersigned, request that the State of New Jersey dualize Route 9 throughout Lakewood, making it at least two lanes in each direction. Route 9 is dualized from North Jersey all the way south until Central Avenue in Lakewood. Terrible congestion starts from the precise point where it narrows from 5 lanes to 2 lanes.
We ask that you, as our elected official, recognize that traffic congestion on Route 9 is no longer just a quality of life issue. Rather, it hurts our economy, our families, our safety and our future.
We recognize that some improvements are planned and have reviewed those. While helpful somewhat, they don't address the needs of our Township, County and State. We strongly urge you, as our elected official, to hear our voice once and for all, and dualize Route 9 to a minimum of 2 travel lanes in each direction.
We reject as misleading and illogical, statements or studies which claim that dualizing will only draw traffic off other roads onto Route 9.
We ask you to ensure that this gets fixed now.

Adding additional lanes to route 9 is long overdue. More traffic lights are also urgently needed to reduce the escalating number of traffic accidents and fatalities.
With the growth of Lakewood having only two lanes on Rt 9 is not just an inconvenience rather its hazardous slowing down the ambulances getting to the hospital or attending calls on the south side of the lake.
Yesterday I had to go from prospect on the 9 to Howell on the 9. I ended up going to New Hampshire down to county line then through Howell. Took me 15-20 minutes but I still got there before the time that it would've taken me on the 9. This is totally crazy and has to be solved. Ty
Its a disaster to drive on route 9- my daily commute which should take 10 minutes, takes me around 45 minutes. It's Insane! Street must be widened

I agree it should be widened. But first have a petition to stop the corruption and building in Lakewood. By the time they widen it to two lanes each way, we'll need three lanes each way. The township should stop blaming the state to widen it. It's the townships fault for approving so many homes.

I spend 40 minutes of my time each morning just to drop off my baby at the babysitter. Same for pickup. Distance travelled: 4 miles each way. PLEASE HELP me be able to get to work on time and home for my kids busses. Thank you
