Petition to ensure a full week of autumn holiday for international student-semesters on DMJX
It has recently come to the attention of us, the students on the international student-semesters on DMJX Århus, that we will not receive a full 5 days of autumn holiday like the Danish students will. This is completely unacceptable. We deserve the same amount of time off as our fellow students in Denmark.
This exchange is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many of us and we feel that it is absolutely necessary to have the time off to fully enjoy our time here. Time to explore, reflect, connect and relax. Many of us have already booked tickets to go home to our respective countries, to explore other parts of Denmark or have just set time aside for relaxing and enjoying our time here in Århus.
We fail to see why we should not receive the same amount of time off as our fellow Danish students - We should have the same rights as them, and not be treated as second-rank citizens. We started this semester a full week before almost every other Danish student on DMJX Århus, and that is on top of the fact that many of us still to this day are acclimating and adjusting to life in Denmark.
Receiving a full week off would help immensely in giving us the time and space to really settle in, and it would give us much needed time to absorb and process the many new impressions we have already made here, setting us up for the rest of our time here.
We petition DMJX to please reconsider and give us all a full week off. We need this, if not for our own sake, then for the sake of fairness and equal treatment.
