The petition presented is written as a reaction regarding the release of the 20/21 winter exam schedule.
The newly released exam schedule does not treat the Danish and international students equally seeing as the international students are prevented to go home and spend Christmas with their families. It is problematic for international students to find flights home before Christmas with exam dates as late as the 21st and 22nd of December.
There are a total of 5 problematic exams at BTECH, in comparison to AU (Aarhus) where there is only one, which is for HA. This means that at AU (Aarhus) there is no exam for BScB later than the 18th of December. Prior to Christmas, all exams in BTECH, oral and written, are for BScB except for one written exam which is dependent on having to be sat on the same day for both BScB and HA. These exams affect international students at 1st, 3rd and part of 5th semester.
Until a few years ago, the exam planners at BTECH took into consideration that international students were expected to travel home during Christmas. This seems to not be the case anymore.
All this considered, 2020 is special because of COVID-19, which further restricts international traveling worldwide.
A solution could be to either digitalize exams or move the written exams. Oral exams could be either moved or planned under consideration of prioritizing international students in the first time slots of the exam dates.

REALLY disappointing planning. some of us have not seen our families in over a year.
this is honestly so unfair considering the year we have had with covid. please rethink the schedule.
just move the dates earlier please. its not that hard to fix.
BTECH needs to do better. why is it so different from the main campus in Aarhus?
It is very inconsiderate of AU to put the exams so close to christmas even though, they know that they have many international students!

My flight alone is costing a fortune because of these dates. Totally ridiculous to expect us to stay this late.
