they finally issued the formal apology we asked for. im so relieved we kept the pressure up until they took it seriously. keep paying attention because we need to stay vigilant about the stuff they print moving forward.

Tom Moran, editor and columnist for The Star Ledger, recently tweeted an editorial claiming that, "Top Dems in NJ, deep down, want to murder the leaders of the teachers union".
Tom Moran must be held accountable for this type of reckless journalism and disturbingly casual reference to violence.
Please sign this petition to let Tom Moran and The Star Ledger know that deleting the comment is a good first step, but in no way should it be the only one.

Calling for violence of any kind is unacceptable; it’s even worse after the murdered of American citizens in Vegas and Texas within these past two and a half months. To Moran should be held accountable for his egregious actions.
Inciting a murder is a crime. Too much murdering going on without you butting thoughts I to people's mind. You do not need the job. If a teacher said that he or she would be fired. I lost 4 years of pay and didn't wish anyone dead not even the mean unfair Christy.
This is a horribly irresponsible piece of journalism. Moran’s people interviewed less than 1% of the educators at the NJEA Convention - less than .5% agreed with his sweeping generality.
I am appalled at Tom Moran’s tweet and can not believe that a journalist or human being would escalate political action to include murder. I fear for our NJEA leadership, staff and 200,000 members.
I would like to find out how Tom Moran knows the way "top Dems" feel "deep down". He should either quote them directly or stop making such assumptions. Threats of violence should never be part of political discussions.
Do the right thing apologize.
