“I hope this email finds you in great spirits. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking since the Ward A meeting and I still find myself to be bothered by the comments of Chester Rothman who sits on the Public Safety Committee. I have been in communication with my community after the incident due to a video that surfaced on social media and ultimately outraged many residents. Mr. Rothman’s comments were not befitting of someone who sits on any committee but definitely not the Public Safety Committee. His comments communicated a racist undertone and suggested that parents do not know how to raise their children. He also labeled these children as “little gangsters” and referenced “those People”. This behavior from someone who serves at the will of the administration cannot be tolerated. At this time, I respectfully request that Mr. Rothman be removed from the Public Safety Committee due to the events that took place at the Ward A meeting on February 3, 2016 at City Line Church. I hope that you carefully consider my request and you proceed accordingly. Thank you in advance for your courtesy. I look forward to hearing from you.”

I am currently drafting a formal follow up letter to the Mayor and the Director because the initial request has gone ignored. A representative from the Jersey City Times reached out for a comment on these developments today. I will provide an update once I receive an official response from the administration.

The volume of support has secured a meeting with the Mayor's office to discuss the removal of Chester Rothman. My focus is now on preparing the documentation of the Ward A incident to present during that discussion.

WOW. Cant believe he actually said that in public. Totally unacceptable for anyone in that position to talk about our kids like that. REMOVE HIM.
