Help turn the old Night Light Lounge into Jerry’s Tavern- a neighborhood spot where all are welcome
(Only sign, NO DONATIONS unless you want to donate to ipetitions.com). Hello, Jerry here! As you may or may not know, I started making pizza in our house during Covid to pass the time. I gave pizzas to neighbors, friends, and strangers in exchange for donations to causes we believe in. I expected it to be just a Covid hobby, but it turned into much more- it became my passion… my obsession. What I didn’t expect was the outpouring of support from the community. After a year in our house, I finally gained the courage to quit my day job and turn my at-home “hobby” into a pop-up in the back of SE Portland’s Bear Paw Inn. The support continued and I learned more about owning a business and the art of making pizza. My pop-up came to a close in March 2022 and I’ve spent the last 7 months making final tweaks to my pizza while searching for a permanent home for our own tavern. Without any formal training, I continue to suffer from imposter syndrome. I’m fully aware that this entire thing could potentially fail but I’m going to put everything I have into it to make sure it doesn’t. Our ultimate dream is to create a fun, comfortable space where we can give Midwesterners a taste of home while introducing Portlanders and others to the style of pizza that we grew up eating. We want to keep this operation family-owned and have turned down several opportunities from investors and restaurant groups to keep Jerry’s authentic to us. The good news is that we think we may have finally found the perfect space- the old Night Light Lounge on 21st and Clinton in SE Portland- the neighborhood in which this all began. The problem is that there are many other businesses vying for the space as well. Please help us bring Jerry’s Tavern, a neighborhood tavern that welcomes all people and serves overrated, slightly above-average Midwest thin crust pizza and cheap pitchers of beer, to the corner of SE 21st and Clinton by signing this petition. Your signature will help strengthen our letter of intent to the landlord and hopefully give our small, family-owned business a chance of bringing cracker crust to Portland. Thank you!

As one of the first wave of customers to the Night Light (that was my stuffed bear in the rafters), I know this location and this neighborhood well, and Jerry's Tavern would be a perfect fit for the locals, and a destination-worthy visit for those a little further out. Make it so!
Jerry is a great guy who deserves this shot! During the pandemic, he was helping others by only taking a donation for his pizzas and even stated if people couldn’t afford it, he would still help out. He is highly deserving of this opportunity.
This pizza transported my wife, who is from Chicago and laments that everyone associates it with deep dish, back to her earlier years enjoying tavern style pizza. We can't wait for Jerry to find a new home and SE would be a great location for him!
I’ve been not only lucky enough to eat Jerry’s pizza, but get to chat with him and follow along as he grows his following. The guy is super humble and has a strong sense of community. He’s exactly the person you want helping to develop the neighborhood and taking pride in this space.
Jerry’s pizza is something that would at this location thrive. There is no doubt that SE portland would greatly welcome Jerry’s pizza as a welcomed main stay and quickly be considered a local hotspot akin to the way so many locals feel about Dots for example.

I’m relatively new to Portland and have been disappointed in the pizza offerings. Then I had Jerry’s pizza. He would bring so much business to the area because once you have Jerry’s pizza, you come back for more all the time!
