Please sign our petition to urge Superintendent Crawley to fully fund the Mount Vernon Community School Playground Project!
Since 2014, Mount Vernon Community School (MVCS) families – and the community at large – have been working hard to revitalize the school’s playground space. We have completed a terrific design and raised more than $150,000 toward our goal of making the MVCS playground a safer, more inclusive and more enriching place for our students and the entire community to enjoy.
We are so close, but we need your help to get this project over the finish line. Please ask Superintendent Crawley to include $200,000 for this project in his slate of budget transfers for the end of this fiscal year. When added to the existing funds already appropriated for our efforts, this allocation will enable us to completely close the gap in our project budget.

My son goes to a private school, but we have spent quite a bit of time at this playground. With its location, it serves not just the MVCS students, but also those who are just passing through. Please make it a better place for all!
Please help us complete this project! The playground benefits children not just at the school but more broadly in Alexandria and is in dire need of renovation! At present, some of the playground condition are hazardous, which is unacceptable for a school playground. Many thanks!
This playground project is essential to making this community space safe and accessible for everyone as well as providing new learning space for our school. It's long overdue and has been neglected for way too long. Our community has done our part and now we need ACPS to do theirs!

This is a matter of safety and the fact that the community has come together to raise over $150,000 makes it only right that the City step up. They have done it in the past for other schools so it would be very unfair not to step up for Mt. Vernon.
This is staple to the school and community and must be done!! We miss connecting with friends and neighbors and seeing our children enjoy the outside!
My daughter once got a metal sliver at this playground when she was swinging above the slide on the pole. This playground needs to be updated.

My daughter will attend MVCS in a few years. At her preschool, I can see the importance of the playground to her development of self-confidence and social skills, along with gross motor skills and physical health. I look forward to a MVCS playground that is reflective of the great things I've heard about the school.
