Hampshire County Council is proposing a number of changes to how our Children's Centres are clustered and managed.

At the moment these are only PROPOSALS, BUT if we don't speak out things WILL change.

WHAT CAN THIS MEAN TO YOU?

* Reduction in the number of centres in Gosport from 6 to 4.

* Reduction in teacher support for childcare providers.

* Reduction in services to you and your child.

* Budget cuts could affect the Nursery and Daycare provision.

* Loss or reduction of staff with excellent skills and knowledge of the catchment area.

* Specialist support groups cut e.g. young parents, parenting support.

* Reduction in services within walking distance from your home.

* Over subscribed services with longer waiting lists.

* Reduction in the supported working programme for Seafield community house and the 3 hostels in Gosport.

At the moment HASELBRIDGE Children's Centre, ALVERBRIDGE nursery and HASELWORTH School work together to ensure that your children have the best start possible right up to the age of 11. THIS COULD END!!! As parents and members of the community it is important that we have a voice. If HASELBRIDGE has made a difference to you and your children, please sign this petition. There is an open drop-in session at Rowner Children's Centre on the 7th March 2pm - 4pm where representatives from hampshire County Council can take questions.

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE, SPREAD THE WORD AND LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!

Updates

February 23, 2011

Hampshire County Council is finally seeing that they cannot dismantle our community centers in the dark. This momentum proves they underestimated how hard we are willing to fight to protect our children.

This place helped me so much when my youngest was struggling. We cant afford to lose the support staff they are lifesavers.

Ridiculous proposal. Most of us walk here because we dont drive and losing this would make it impossible to get help. stop the cuts!

Haselbridge has been there for our family for years. Disgraceful that they would even think about shutting this down.

Keep our centres open! The council is always looking at the wrong places to make cuts. Leave our kids alone.
