Hampshire County Council (“HCC”) proposes to close Brockenhurst Children’s Centre (“Seedlings”) and merge it with Pennington’s Children’s Centre (“All Seasons”). The cost of transport and the price and availability of local public transport means that the merging of these children’s centres will effectively deprive many local families (from all over the heart of the New Forest) of the support, services and activities provided by a centrally located Children’s Centre. We can save “Seedlings”! HCC has to provide “sufficient children’s centre provision to meet local needs and must consult before closing or changing children’s centres”. However, time is running out as HCC will make its final decision on 14th March 2011. We must therefore act NOW. Please sign our petition as part of our campaign to save Seedlings!
