To the South Valley Area Planning Commission:

I am writing to express my support for the Specific Plan Exception to permit Haichal Moshe Synagogue located at 18038 Ventura Boulevard to continue to operate as an Orthodox Synagogue with the 10 on-site parking spaces in lieu of the 101 spaces required by the specific plan for "auditorium" uses.

As an orthodox Synagogue, Haichal Moshe's congregation walk rather than drive to busy Friday and Saturday services. The parking study completed by Hirsch Green Consulting also shows that a maximum of 10 spaces are needed during the week. Therefore, it would be unusually burdensome to require the Synagogue to supply all 101 parking spaces that would never be used.

Sincerely,

I never imagined this modest petition would reach so many people who understand the reality of how this congregation actually gets to services. It is truly humbling to see that so many of you recognize how unnecessary these parking requirements are for our neighborhood synagogue. I am simply the person who hit publish but this momentum is entirely driven by your collective understanding of the situation.

This place is a staple of our community. They walk to services anyway so the parking requirement makes zero sense.

Common sense dictates that if you dont drive to shul you dont need a massive parking lot. Fix this immediately.

Ridiculous to ask for 100 spaces when they are empty 90% of the time. Stop wasting everyone's time and let them operate.

Let them stay! 100 parking spots is a total joke for a group that doesnt even drive on shabbat. Use some common sense.

I live right down the street. It is never crowded. The city needs to stop making up these crazy rules.

This is totally unfair. They have been good neighbors for years.
