Town of Del Norte and Board of Adjustment:

I understand that a variance application will be placed before you to consider rezoning 595 Grand Avenue to include Child-care facilities as a permissible use.

With the understanding that High Valley Community Center, Inc. will be occupying the former Community Bank Building at 595 Grand Avenue, I support this variance and I support their use of that space as a way to better our community by providing opportunities for youth, families, and the community at large.

I agree with HVCC that we want to create and maintain a healthy downtown district where services can be offered, money can be spent, the economy can grow, and people can become attracted to our area. A vacant building does not contribute to that intent. When you bring families to the downtown, they will be more likely to spend their money downtown. When you have opportunities for childcare, you are more likely to be gainfully employed. Gainful employment among families is an economic boost and helps to establish stability.

HVCC has proven that they can maintain high safety standards, that they contribute to the betterment and well-being of our youth, our families, and our community at large.

Denying this variance will create a negative impact on our entire town and community and we encourage you to make the right decision and rezone the Commercial Business District and allow our community to support our future: the youth.
