Re: Letter in Support of Zoning Hearing Application No. Z2021000116 (the “Application”) / The First Baptist Church of Westwood Lake, Inc.
Dear Community Zoning Appeals Board Members:
The purpose of this letter is to express our support for the Application filed by The First Baptist Church of Westwood Lake, Inc. (the “Church”), which requests the approval of a revised set of plans which includes the proposed construction of a 2-story church and worship center for religious education, and the construction of a single-family residence for the pastor. There are no changes being proposed to the underlying approved day care center and private school (K – 12). The proposed 2-story church and worship center for religious education is to contain ±42,012 sq. ft. and be constructed towards the northwest corner of the Property adjacent to SW 56th Street and SW 120th Avenue. The proposed single-family residence is to be constructed on the southeasterly 5 acres of the Property and will face SW 118th Avenue.
We wish to be on record that we are in full support of the Application in its entirety. The new church and worship center will provide parishioners, students and parents with a state-of-the-art sanctuary and chapel facility as well as school classrooms for its religious education program. We are excited for this next phase of the Church’s, and Christian School evolution and urge the Community Zoning Appeals Board to support this request.

I really thought this might just be a quiet note of support from a few neighbors, but the way you all have stepped up to back the church is just overwhelming. It feels like the community is finally being seen and I truly appreciate the trust you have placed in me to carry this forward.

I am honestly a bit overwhelmed by the way the community has rallied to support this project. It is clearly all of you who deserve the credit for how much momentum we have built together lately.

We lived at the location for many years and enjoyed the church and school. They need to have a building for the church so their gymnasium is not constantly in use for services.
Westwood is a huge positive impact to our youth in this community that will have a lasting impact with great education and extracurricular activities.
This will be good for the overall community, good for the church, which has proven to be a tremendous asset to the neighborhood for 60+ years, and the church has proven to be members in good standing with Horse Country.
We attend here when we come to Miami about 4 times per year. What a wonderful addition to the neighborhood and ministry this could be
My daughter went to camp there. She never liked church, but one days after camp, she was eager talking about God. And she said "mommy i like the way the pastor explained God"

As a member of the First Baptist Church of Westwood Lake, I am writing to express my strong support for the building of new facilities at our church. For over 60 years, we have been serving the Horse Country neighborhood and have outgrown our current space in the school gym where we have been setting up and taking down our worship services each week. Despite these challenges, the Lord has continued to bless our ministry, and we believe that with your support, we can take this next step in our journey. I respectfully request that you support our efforts to build the new facilities that we so desperately need. Our church is an important part of this community, and we believe that a new, dedicated space will allow us to better serve our members and continue our mission of spreading the love of the Lord. I endorse the proposal of constructing a new church temple on the Westwood campus in the Horse Country community. The Westwood establishment has been a vital aspect of the Horse Country community for over half a century and has been instrumental in fostering the growth and upliftment of the community and its inhabitants. I am convinced that the new church building will serve as a shining example of hope and guidance to all who choose to seek refuge within its walls.
